They work on cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of maritime technology and are looking for a Principal Engineer to join their Gulf Coast operations and lead engineering efforts that will define the future of maritime solutions..

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a critical leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of innovative engineering solutions for maritime vessels and infrastructure. This includes overseeing complex technical projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring that designs meet regulatory and safety standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product development, and operations, to drive the development of high-performance, reliable systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Technical Leadership: Provide expertise and direction in the design, development, and optimization of maritime systems, including propulsion, hull structures, and navigation systems.
  • Project Oversight: Lead large-scale engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., IMO, SOLAS).
  • Innovation & Development: Drive the innovation of new technologies and solutions to enhance ship efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and third-party contractors, to ensure project success.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all designs and systems comply with relevant maritime regulations and safety standards.
  • Testing & Validation: Oversee the testing and validation of new systems, including sea trials and performance assessments.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks in system design, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements: 

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in the maritime industry, with a strong background in ship design, engineering systems, or marine structures.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects and managing technical teams.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in marine systems, hydrodynamics, structural design, and propulsion systems.
    • Strong understanding of maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL).
    • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Ansys).
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
